Microsoft shaves $100 off Core i5 Surface Pro 4 prices for limited time

By Adrian Diaconescu March 14, 2016, 7:20 am

Undecided between the two cheapest Microsoft Surface Pro 4 configurations around? Redmond makes it very easy to choose now, selling both the Intel Core m3 and Core i5 4GB RAM/128GB SSD models at $900.

The latter, which is clearly faster and more desirable, typically costs 100 bucks extra, and we’re guessing the 2-in-1’s budget-conscious adopters were willing to cut the performance corner, since the Core m3 version isn’t on sale.

Instead, you can also grab the other Core i5 Surface Pro 4 SKU for less than usual, as long as you see fit to cough up a $300 premium on 8 gigs of RAM and 256GB internal storage space. Yes, that one normally sets you back $1,300, but it’s now available for a limited time at $1,200.

If you happen to miss the two US-only Microsoft Store deals, or don’t like doing business with the device manufacturer directly, Amazon and Best Buy offer the i5 convertible Windows 10 tablets for the same $100-reduced prices.

Meanwhile, Core i7 configs continue to go for a whopping $1,600 and up, and productivity-enhancing Type Covers are $130 a pop, or $160 with Fingerprint ID.

At the end of the day, you’ll still spend a small fortune if you want your Surface Pro 4 to be capable of seamlessly turning into a mini-laptop, but any price cut is welcome so early in the hybrid’s commercial run.
