Microsoft Outs Photosynth App for Apple iOS, No Windows Phone
One more time Microsoft releases an application for a competing platform — Apple’s iOS to be more specific — leaving its own Windows Phone 7 out, at least for now. Photosynth for iOS has been released and the Windows Phone 7 version is coming next.
Photosynth is a panorama creation and sharing application that allows you to capture 360-degrees in all directions and create images from the captures. You might wonder: why (again) no Windows Phone 7 version? “The level of camera and low-level algorithmic hacking needed to make Photosynth work meant that, if we wanted to get this out as quickly as possible and we surely did we needed to do so on a platform that provided the necessary low-level device access. Windows Phone 7 doesn’t yet allow this for apps. It will soon” says Blaise Agüera y Arcas.
Until then, check out the source link on your iPhone — sorry Windows Phone 7 users — download the application for free from iTunes and start shooting panoramas of Windows Phone 7 devices not mature enough to get Microsoft’s own software.
