Microsoft seems to be a diligent player in another company’s walled garden. With the introduction of the iPhone 6s and the iPad Pro, two new iOS interaction methods have changed up what it means to be an app on an Apple device. And Word, Excel and PowerPoint are on it.

All three apps are taking up new features, including:

  • “Annotate with Ink,” accessible via the new Draw tab and now takes the Apple Pencil
  • A 3D Touch menu which allows you to immediately create or open a project
  • Download fonts from the cloud on demand
  • Files are now searchable on Spotlight (iOS 9)

PowerPoint also now allows the selection and movement (or “Morph”) of multiple objects simultaneously.

OneNote gets some update love, too:

  • Notifications will pop up when file updates happen
  • OneNote search pores through your device and now, the cloud!
  • Side-by-Side and Slideover is all good for the iPad Pro
  • There’s a new “Convert to Shapes” command to refine your hand-drawn shape

All of the updates are available now.
