As if to prove beyond the shadow of a doubt the beastly HP Elite x3 isn’t worth $1,000 (or even $800), Microsoft has just outdone itself with the latest North America-only Lumia 950/950 XL yard sale.

We won’t get into all the ways the Windows 10 Mobile-running 5.2/5.7-inch duo is inferior to the Snapdragon 820-powered Elite x3 (well, there’s one), but it’s pretty obvious the former two models are stellar bargains at $400 and $450 respectively.

That’s down from their extravagant list prices of $550 and $650 in unlocked configurations, and to further sweeten the deals, Redmond throws in free Display Docks, typically worth an additional $100, with both phones.

At the end of the day, you’re looking at massive $250 and $300 savings respectively, at least stateside, while similar productivity-focused bundles set you back CAD $600 and $650 up north through Microsoft’s regional e-store, instead of CAD $750 and $850.

And yes, we’ve seen the Lumia 950 and 950 XL marked down a number of times in the recent past, the latter to $500 at one point, the former to $450, with PC-enabling accessories offered gratis here and there, and the jumbo-sized handheld even sold alongside a complimentary little brother. But if you want to spend as little as possible, and only get one of the two phones, this is arguably the best deal ever.
