Microsoft Begins Rolling Out WP7 NoDo Update

It looks like the wait for Microsoft’s first proper Windows Phone 7 update is now over, as the company has begun making the NoDo update available to WP7 users.

After seeing so many leaked copies of the NoDo update turn up for certain WP7 handsets, it almost seemed like Microsoft might not even need to make an official release after all. Nevertheless, the company has started pushing NoDo out to selected WP7 phones. There’s been no statement yet as to how Microsoft is proceeding with the roll-out, but so far it looks like unbranded phones are getting first crack at the update.

As for users with a WP7 handset tied to a carrier, you may still have a small wait on your hands; we haven’t heard confirmation yet from any such users reporting they’ve received the NoDo notification. There’s always the chance one network may decide to hold off on this update, per Microsoft’s policies, but considering the relevance of NoDo as the first feature-packed update for the platform, we don’t expect to see that happen.

In case you haven’t been following along, NoDo adds copy-and-paste functionality, speeds up app load and resume times, and contains smaller tweaks sprinkled throughout the OS. Visit Microsoft’s now-updated change log to see the full list of improvements.
