Will Nokia announce the Lumia 930 at its press event tonight? One week ago, we would have answered that question with a solid “probably,” but more recent rumors have suggested that the 930 might be a no-show, and maybe only the 630 would be on the menu. We’ll know for sure in just a matter of hours, but even if the 930 isn’t on the slate tonight, we’re bound to see Nokia reveal the phone in the relatively near future. While so far we haven’t had much to look at while talking about all these Lumia 930 rumors, today we finally get to put a face to the name, as the first render of the Windows Phone smartphone leaks.

As shouldn’t be too surprising, considering the 930’s reputation as a global version of the Lumia Icon (929), the handset pictured here carries more than a passing resemblance to the Icon. The 20MP camera looks confirmed, and unlike the 630, which we expect to be designed with WP8.1 in mind and transitioning to on-screen virtual Windows buttons, the 930 appears to be sticking with the old capacitive arrangement.

Considering what big fans we were of the Icon, we’re anxious to learn when the rest of the world will get to have a crack at it, by means of this 930. There’s still a chance those rumors about it being absent from today’s event could miss the mark, so check in with us this evening to learn if the 930 ends up making an appearance, after all.
