Rumors surrounding the launch plans for Nokia’s Lumia 929 have really been getting more interesting lately. They’ve been dragging around for a while now, as one missed guess at a launch date gets replaced by another. But now not only have we been talking about the possibility of Nokia delaying this model until next year, but that it might not even be released with that 929 moniker, and instead could drop numbers altogether in favor of the name Lumia Icon. It sounds like that theory’s still in the running, but today we learn a little more about just when things might start happening.

Last time we got an update, word was that the 929/Icon could launch mid-January, right on the 14th. This new report slides things back just a little further, aiming more towards late January or early February. There’s even the possibility being offered that the phone might wait until MWC to go public – and that expo doesn’t kick-off until February 24.

While that’s quite a while to wait for a phone we’ve already been looking forward to for as long as we have, that idea of an MWC announcement is intriguing – supposedly, this could be when the new Nokia (as a part of Microsoft) might go public with its broader plans for branding, including talking about other number-less Lumia models.
