Contest spills the beans on Nokia Lumia 525

Whatever happened to the Lumia 525? In the lead-up to the Nokia World event earlier this month, we heard enough rumors about this handset – one we had been calling by its codename, Glee – but when the time came for Nokia to actually introduce its new hardware, there was no 525 to be seen. What gives? Were the rumors totally wrong about this model, or was it just not ready to go public yet? It’s looking like Nokia still has some plans for the 525, as we see the model pop up in a new promotion.

Live Nation Ontario is running a contest that not only offers tickets to one of its shows, but also awards the winner a new Lumia 525. This doesn’t look like some typo, either: the phone’s model number appears in the official rules, and participants have to send out a tweet specifically referring to the “Nokia Lumia 525” to even enter in the first place.

While this still doesn’t give us much in the way of detail on the hardware itself, we do get confirmation (as if the number 525 itself wasn’t sufficient) that this will be a lower-end model: the total value of the grand prize (which includes two tickets as well as the phone) is only $250.
