So far today we’ve been dealing with a higher-than-usual concentration of news surrounding Windows and Windows Phone, checking out rumors both about Android-running Lumias and Android app compatibility for pure WP8 devices. While that last report drifted into software territory, we’re swinging back over to the hardware side of things as a couple new rumors discuss new Windows Phone and new Windows RT devices.

First up, we could be looking at a new version of the Lumia 1520 phablet, the 1525. The only differences we’ve heard mentioned so far are that the 1525 would run WP8.1 out of the box (no surprises there, for a new model) and that it would trade in its Snapdragon 800 SoC for a newer Snapdragon 801. There may ultimately be more to it, but for now it looks like the 1525 would keep that six-inch 1080p panel. Supposedly, the 1525 could find a home at T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon.

Next we’ve got an update on the Surface Mini, after its no-show at Microsoft’s May Surface Pro 3 event. Word was this was a last-minute cancellation, and after further evidence emerged suggesting just how close to launch the Mini really was, we’ve been curious to see when it might finally show its face. A specific date is still up in the air, but we hear today that the Surface Mini is once again under production, and that Microsoft may intend to get it out before the end of summer. That leaves us with a wide window, but we wouldn’t put it past Microsoft planning to coordinate this release with the back-to-school sales rush.
