September is just about to leave us behind for October, which means that Nokia’s October 22 event is finally in sight. While there’s bound to be some lower-end Asha business, we’re also expecting to finally see Nokia launch some much more prominent devices, including the Lumia 1520 phablet and maybe even that 2520 tablet. Over the weekend, we had the opportunity to check out just such a Nokia tablet in some FCC paperwork, and today we’re in the same boat with the 1520, as its own documentation gets published by the agency.

We’re looking at two distinct hardware versions here, as the paperwork covers both the RM-938 and RM-940. That’s unusual for FCC filings, but not unheard of – here, the difference between the two seems to be just the presence of built-in wireless charging for the latter. Frequency support includes LTE on bands 2, 4, 5, and 17, making AT&T sound like a good possibility for at least one of these guys could show up.

We also get some dimensions for the handset, as you can see above. While those figures are in the general range of what we’d expect for a phablet, we wonder if they don’t look a little small – for instance, both those height and width measurements are below what we see in the Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8, and that even has a smaller display. Was that six-inch-display bit a little off, or has Nokia just done a great job of cramming a whole lot into a compact package?
