Surface 3 with LTE hits AT&T later this week

Microsoft helped usher-in spring this year with the launch of a new tablet, adding to its Surface line with the introduction of the Surface 3, the first non-Pro Surface to run a full version of Windows (and enjoy the same broad software support) and avoid all those RT shenanigans. And while the Surface 3 started hitting stores in early May, initial availability was only for the tablet’s WiFi-only option. LTE would be on the way eventually, and today we get word of the first US carrier to offer just such an LTE-equipped Surface 3.

AT&T begins Surface 3 sales later this week, where the 64GB tablet will go for just about $600, full price. That compares to the $500 Microsoft is asking for the WiFi-only 64GB Surface 3.

Of course, that’s not your only option for buying the Surface 3 LTE at AT&T; you can also get the tablet on installment, paying $30 a month for the next 20 months, or get it on contract, bringing things down to $500 with a two-year commitment. That drops further still if you also pick up a new Lumia smartphone, discounting the subsidized Surface 3 price to just about $400.

The Surface 3 runs a quad-core Intel Atom x7 SoC, has 2GB of RAM, and gives users versatile expansion options with its full-sized USB 3.0 port.
