LG five-inch WP8.1 handset may be in the works
When Windows Phone 7 launched, LG was all over that business, delivering models like the Optimus 7 and the QWERTY-equipped Quantum. But then by the time WP7.5 devices were rolling off the production line, new entries from LG were nowhere to be seen, and they failed to return for Windows Phone 8, as well. Still, rumors have remained relatively consistent in saying that LG has still been keeping an eye on Windows Phone, and it’s only a matter of time before it delivers some new hardware. As we wait to see if that’s actually the case, new signs of an LG WP8.1 handset have emerged.
Data recorded by AdDuplex seems to reveal an LG model D635, a five-inch 720p handset running Windows Phone 8.1. For the moment, though, that’s all we have to go on, and we haven’t spotted that D635 number popping up in any of the other usual spots, like on a User Agent Profile or in India’s Zauba import database.
Without any insight into the D635’s silicon, it’s also difficult to get a grip on just what sort of device LG may be intending here; will it run a Snapdragon 800 and be a higher-end model like a Lumia 930, or could LG try to pick up some of that budget market with a more conservative hardware spread?
