LG webOS smartwatch in the works

Some of us here at Pocketnow are die-hard Palm/HP/webOS fans (we won’t give names, you know Michael Fisher and Adam Doud anyways), and, fueled by that passion, our own Adam Doud has written a little post imagining the webOS powered smartwatch. The fate of the platform was in question after LG purchased it, and, we were afraid we would not see anything webOS-powered except a couple of TVs or toasters.

As it turns out, a special website hosted by LG has popped up (and then it has been later taken down). While it lived, it referenced an SDK (software development kit) for… wait for it… an LG webOS smartwatch!

LG already has smart wearable timepiece offerings (its latest being powered by Android Wear) like the G Watch, and G Watch R. However, before you get your hopes too high, LG had this to say when talking to The Verge: “there are many initiatives going on at LG at any given moment. The majority of them never see the light of day“. While this may very well be LG trying to keep things under wraps, and secret, until the latest time possible, on the other hand, it could very well be just LG playing with prototypes (like all OEMs do).

We’ll definitely keep you posted as soon as we find out more. Until then, tell us, what is it that a webOS-powered LG smartwatch could bring in order for you to grab it?
