Coming in to today’s LG launch event, we probably would have been satisfied with just the V10. It may not be the envelope-pushing smartphone that devices like the Sony Z5 Premium are trying to be, but between some solid hardware and a few innovative features, it looks like there’s a lot to enjoy there. But as it turns out we didn’t get just the V10, and today LG also revealed its latest smartwatch, bringing native cellular connectivity to the world of Android Wear with the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition.
We’ve been hearing for about a month now that LG had a proper second-gen smartwatch in the works, one with a bold, “futuristic” new look. Whether or not LG succeeded in the design department may be a matter of personal taste, but we’re definitely looking at some meaningful hardware upgrades, like a new higher-res OLED display, more RAM, and a battery that’s nearly 40 percent larger than the first Watch Urbane’s.
As a wearable, though, there’s so much more than specs that are going to determine the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition’s fate: how does it feel on the wrist? What’s the band like? We’ll want to spend quite a bit more time with the smartwatch before drawing any conclusions, but for our initial impressions, check out our hands-on video below.
