LG may get the first word in for putting out the first Android Nougat smartphone on September 6. But that’s just word. Not phones in boxes being sent through a postal delivery system.

Instead, the HTC-made Nexus devices — rumored to debut on October 4 — will actually ship first. That’s the word according to Android Police managing editor David Ruddock. Yes, that guy has a title.

It’s an oddity, indeed, especially if what we’re hearing about the Google Assistant features (along with others) that will be embedded in Android 7.1, also said to go with the Nexus phones’ launch.

Turn your stomach one more time and this Nougat coaster will make us throw up.
