LG Star Hitting Korea as Optimus 2X; Optimus Mach Too (Video)
LG has tipped the name and model number of its upcoming dual-core Android-powered smartphone, codenamed Star. In a press release about another fairly powerful Froyo model poised to hit South Korea, the 1GHz TI OMAP 3630-equipped LU3000 a.k.a. the LG Optimus Mach (pictured below), the manufacturer casually revealed that the Star will be known — in Korea, at least — as the LG Optimus 2X, model number SU660. Doing a little digging, Phandroid was able to find several more videos of this model on YouTube (embedded bottom), some of which prove that the initial Quadrant benchmarks we just saw were no fluke. With a four-inch screen, HDMI-out, eight-megapixel camera with 1080p full HD video capture, and of course that Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, the Star/Optimus 2X promises to be one of the most exciting handsets expected in the first half of next year — when it has been rumored as one of Verizon’s first LTE-capable phones.
The Optimus Mach, meanwhile, sports a nicely-sized 3.8-inch display, five-megapixel camera with 720p video recording, and like the 2X, an HDMI-out port. It also features exclusive orchestral music from composer Ennio Morricone. Machine translation makes it sound like both of these models wil debut in Korea in about two months time.
