This render is based on an image of the upcoming LG Optimus Slider LS700 for Sprint, codenamed Gelato Q. While the final handset may not look exactly like this mockup, there should be a strong resemblance. The appearance of the keyboard remains a mystery for now, and may or may not sport a secondary LCD a la that T-Mobile prototype spotted by Pocket-Lint at an industry event.

We’re expecting this HVGA model to be one of two followups to the wildly successful Optimus One, along with a traditional touchscreen slate whose codename is simply Gelato (and whose model number on Sprint should be LS685). We’ve already seen evidence that Gelato Q will be hitting Verizon as well, and with LG smartphones finding shelf space on most every carrier these days, we see no reason why one or both of these handsets wouldn’t land on all four major operators, as well as many of the smaller and regional ones.

A purported internal screenshot pegged early September for the Slider’s release on Sprint.
