After the recent leaks of the LG’s next iteration of a Nexus smartphone, which we all lovingly call the Nexus 5, a new device dubbed LG D820 has just landed at the FCC. Don’t think that we’ll begin calling every single LG product to land on the FCC a Nexus for the next couple of weeks; there are actually documents that hint to this specific device being the product we’re looking for.

The spec sheet of this phone is extremely interesting. The last three Nexus smartphones have been good devices in everything but specs, and it seems that Google is planning to change this for the good. This device finally includes 7-band LTE, some of which are compatible with AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint (bands 2/4/5/17/25/26/41), CDMA / EVDO rev A, pentaband DC-HSPA+ and quadband GSM / EDGE, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and dual-band 802.11 b/g/n/ac. Other portions of the document hint to a Snapdragon 800 processor, and also that the device sports a 5-inch display, or 4.96-inch display, if you want to be exact. And for those that invested in docs for your Nexus 4, you’ll also be happy to know that this device retains Qi wireless charging, or at least we believe it does judging by the coil in the photo.

An interesting typo in the filing shows that the device will be running Android 4.4 “Key Lime Pie”, which we know was changed for KitKat recently, for better or for worse.

It seems that the days of a push-over Nexus smartphone have ended, as this Nexus 5 is clearly a power-house in every way. Let’s just hope that Google can maintain the price tag after so many enhancements, since this would really make Android OEMs look bad with their pricing schemes.
