LG budget Windows Phone gets an Android clone

By Jules Wang October 16, 2015, 8:56 pm

Same can, different taste? Is this LG’s “new Coke?” Okay, maybe for a budget phone, this decision won’t be making too many waves. But does this decision mean anything more just because of the lower profile of this LG device as well as Windows Phone? Maybe.

The Windows Phone 8.1-powered LG Lancet for Verizon now has an Android 5.1.1 clone. The LG Lancet for Android shares almost every last detail about the hardware and pricing — though for some reason, the LG Lancet for Android, despite carrying the same dimensions, is seven grams lighter.

The same Snapdragon 410 is there along with the eight-megapixel rear camera and 2,100mAh battery.

Why LG chose to repurpose the Lancet for the Google mobile operating system is unclear, but it is selling right now concurrently with the original LG Lancet.
