LG’s free G3 VR viewer offer comes to the US
The LG G4 is nearly ready to go official – or at least that’s certainly how the situation seems, with the manufacturer distributing invitations to a launch event next month. And while we eagerly look forward to seeing what LG’s prepared, it also means that the flagship G3 is about to find itself moved to the back burner. In order to move a few more G3 handsets while it can, LG is stepping up one of the phone’s latest promotions, bringing the free VR viewer offer we learned about earlier this year to the US.
Buy a new G3 at participating US retailers and LG will hook you up with a Google Cardboard-compatible viewer. Made from plastic, it’s a bit more robust than some DIY options, but keep in mind that this is still a Google Cardboard device, so it’s going to be far lower on the technology ladder than anything like Samsung’s Gear VR. That said, free is free, and even a limited VR experience promises to look pretty nice on the G3’s pixel-dense quad HD screen.
If you’ve already got a G3, you’re not out of luck, as LG is giving away 1,300 VR viewers to who post their dream VR virtual destinations to the company’s Facebook page. Full details on how to enter and win are available through the source link below.
