LG G Watch expands availability globally to include retail stores

Smartwatch fans have been looking forward to the start of sales of Android Wear devices since the platform was first announced this spring, and two weeks back we saw things get underway with the addition of the LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live to the Google Play Store’s device listings. That’s well and good for what it is, but if you’d like to get your hands on the G Watch a little quicker, or maybe just check it out in the flesh before dropping $230 on the wearable, your chance is arriving, as LG announces the start of retail G Watch availability in nations around the globe.

AT&T mentioned its own plans to sell the G Watch a little earlier today, but we’re not just talking about carriers here. In addition to making the G Watch available for direct online sales in a dozen countries, LG says that retail partners are bringing the G Watch to store shelves in fifteen more.

The manufacturer hasn’t provided an exhaustive list of all such nations, nor named any retailers in particular, so there’s a little legwork in store for you if you’re set on tracking one down. In the US, at least, retailers like Best Buy still have the G Watch listed as up for pre-order, so it’s not clear just when the watch might land at brick-and-mortar locations; LG sure says “now available,” but it might take a couple days for that message to spread.
