Best Buy slashes G Watch pricing to just $179 ahead of IFA

Though there are only two Android Wear devices available for purchase at this time, it’s about to get busy this week with IFA 2014 kicking off. Motorola will be unveiling the Moto 360, Asus the ZenWatch, Sony the SmartWatch 3… and oh, LG the G Watch R. Seeing as all of these will probably run Android Wear, it’s going to start being hard for OEMs to get sales, so Best Buy has started running an LG G Watch Deal in an effort to get as many sales as possible.

Now that we’ve got the caveats of this deal out of the way, let’s talk more about the G Watch itself. It’s still by all means a well-functioning and polished device, as we stated in our video review of it (and later, our full Android Wear review). It does have a bit of an uninspired design – which its successor, the G Watch R, remedies – but we came out pretty impressed with the platform as a whole.

The device regularly retails for $229 on Google Play and other stores, but Best Buy is running an LG G Watch Deal making that $50 less expensive. We’re unsure of how long the $179 price tag will last, but if you’re interested, you should probably snap one of these up as quickly as possible.
