LG E906 Revealed as Jil Sander Design House-Branded Mango Phone

Last month, we heard about an LG-posted UAProfile for a smartphone we didn’t quite recognize. The LG E906 looked a lot like the Windows Phone-running Optimus 7 (LG E900), but appeared to be running Mango. At the time, we were left wondering if this would be the same Optimus 7 hardware but with a software refresh, to go up for sale once Mango became available. Now the E906 is back on our radar, appearing as a designer-branded model.

Much like the Prada-branded LGs we’ve seen, this LG smartphone is badged for the German fashion house Jil Sander. The hardware is certainly similar to the Optimus 7, but the phone’s rear looks quite different, and the WP7 buttons have been changed but still look like hardware buttons. We can also see in one image that the phone is running Mango build 7706, a release we’re not familiar with (RTM is 7720).

Frankly, we’re left with just as many questions as answers, but now at least we can put a face to this one mystery model.
