LG traditionally hasn’t stuck to just launching one phone in a year. Last year, alongside the G3, it launched various other devices – including the G Pro 2, at a point later in the year. And the year before that, we saw the Optimus G Pro. If a report from Focus Taiwan quoting LG executive Eason Shao is accurate, 2015 won’t be much of a departure from that approach – expect a new LG 2015 flagship in the second half of the year.

Says Focus Taiwan:

LG will continue its dual-flagship strategy this year with the new G4 and another flagship phone scheduled for release in the second half of 2015, hoping that combined sales of the two devices in Taiwan will increase by 30 percent from last year, Shao said, adding that the hardware specifications for the second phone have not yet been finalized.

It’s unclear whether this device will be merely a successor to the G Pro 2, or if it will take bolder steps to be a much greater contender against the might of the Galaxy Note 5 and next-gen iPhone that are sure to be launching around that timeframe to pose steep competition. We will likely learn more soon.
