Latest Samsung Pay perk simmers down to $20 gift card

The good ‘ol days of getting wireless chargers and a couple of Benjamins just for starting a mobile payment habit are long gone. Even this new initiative to get users onto Samsung Pay doesn’t even compare to the last one that offered $30 towards some retailers.

In Samsung’s “Summer Perks for New Samsung Pay Users,” it seems that said new Samsung Pay users will only get $20 of credit to either Toys’R’US, Nike, California Pizza Kitchen, Banana Republic (whoa, really?) or Regal Entertainment.

Obviously, you’ll need a top-of-the-line Samsung Galaxy phone from the past couple of generations that support Samsung Pay. You’ll also need to make sure that you have version 1.7 of the app, that you haven’t paid before with the service and that you’re not using private label cards or Bank of America Visa Debit cards you added onto the app before March 31. Yeah, that last one’s a weird qualifier. But all you have to do once all that tape’s cut is make your first purchase with Samsung Pay before the end of June 6, Eastern time.

We figure that Samsung’s cash jar for these perks must be nearing empty, but hey — all good things have to gradually slow down to an end.
