Jet Black iPhone 7 sells out in minutes, shipping waits lasting until November

Didn’t we warn you earlier? The social media posts complaining about one thing or another? In this case, it’s about iPhone 7 pre-orders. And that Jet Black version did sell out quick — in many cases, people reported “minutes”.

First, a quick word of what’s happening with the earliest possible shipping dates for the four other colors (Black, Silver, Gold and Rose Gold) on the Apple Store site:

  • For AT&T, the 32GB iPhone 7 models will be shipped between September 26 and 28. The 128GB Rose Gold model will be shipped during that time as well. All other iPhone 7 variants will ship starting September 16. iPhone 7 Plus deliveries have been listed at 2 to 3 weeks with the exception of Silver and Gold 32GB models and the Rose Gold models at 128GB and 256GB, which are getting a September 27 through 29 target.
  • Only the Black and Silver 32GB iPhone 7 models for Sprint are delayed until September 26 through 28. All the other variants will ship starting the 16th. All 256GB iPhone 7 Plus deices are quoted for September 27-29 send-offs as well as the 32GB Rose Gold. Others will wait 2 to 3 weeks.
  • All T-Mobile iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus models will take 2 to 3 weeks to receive.
  • Every Verizon variant of the iPhone 7 is still ready for a September 16 shipping. The Black, Silver and Gold 128GB iPhone 7 Plus units plus the 32GB Black units will be due in 2 to 3 weeks. Others will wait through September 27-29.

As of this post, shipping quotes for an JetBlack iPhone 7 direct from Apple’s website of just 3 to 4 weeks. “Just,” as in we’re talking not as far back as the “November” target date revision for the Plus model’s new finish in both of its 128GB and 256GB options.

Despite the hiked price barrier — with the lack of a 32GB choice — and a general lack of supply, the number of status updates about this frustration of not being able to notch this new iPhone 7 in the color many desperately so want is a telling sign that Apple’s still got a certain magic to it.
