Web traffic stats reveal iPhone 6s and 6s Plus testing, but no iPhone 6c

The possibility of an iPhone mini, or even a more affordable iPhone 6c is still a topic for much debate. Yesterday we had famous tipster Evan Blass claiming that we should see three iPhones announced at the same time, giving us credible belief that we won’t have to wait until 2016 for this new unit to arrive. Today we get opposite information on the topic, and this time based on hard evidence.

Web traffic statistics reveal that an iPhone 8.1 and iPhone 8.2 are currently being tested in the US, Germany and Brazil. If you remember, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were models 7.1 and 7.2 respectively, so these new model numbers are clearly of the new iOS flagships. What we don’t see is a third model number being tested, which leads us to believe that there is still no iPhone 6c to account for. The old iPhone 5c was model number iPhone 5.3, and there is no indication of a third unit of similar number being tested.

We’re still a full month away from Apple’s possible announcement of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. It wouldn’t be a common thing for Apple to come up with something new last minute, but we could be wrong as well. Time, and more rumors should tell going forward.
