New iPad Mini Pics Show Hardware In Black, Production Delays Rumored

Yesterday we got our first real exciting news about the iPad mini in some time, with rumors starting to try pinning-down just when Apple would announce the device, and subsequently begin sales. If they’re right, we’ll see Apple send out invitations to an iPad mini event in just about a week. Until then, we’ve got some new shots of iPad mini hardware to check out, as well as some thoughts on the tablet’s production to consider.

From these new pictures, it looks like Apple will again be releasing the tablet in black and white color options, with an anodized aluminum finish to mirror what Apple’s offering with the iPhone 5. Internal shots show a SIM tray, suggesting at least an option for cellular connectivity, but that’s hardly surprising.

Recently, rumors have suggested that production is already well underway on the iPad mini, but a recent analyst report claims that Apple could be seeing some delays in its manufacturing chain, due to both new components at use in the iPad mini, as well as assembly lines not yet tailored for work on a device this size. Despite any such possible delays, the tablet should still launch on schedule, but we’re not quite sure what to think about just how many units Apple will have at its disposal.
