Alleged Inventory Leak Suggests 16 iPad Mini Variants, Prices Hinted

October 23 seems to be the generally accepted date on the internet when Apple is believed to unveil its smaller iPad. While the price is still subject to debate — and we even asked you how much will you be willing to spend on the iPad mini — a recent leak seems to shed some light on the matter.

First of all, about the leak: it is allegedly originating from European electronics giant Media Markt and its inventory listing. As you can see, there are 16 models listed. To break them down: by color (black and white), by radio (WiFi and Cellular — probably 4G but yet unconfirmed), by capacity (8-, 16-, 32-, and 64GB), for a total of 16 models.

The price is in Euros: EU249 (around $320) for the base model, 8GB WiFi only. Add EU100 for every storage bump and add another EU100 for cellular option for a total of EU649 ($835) for the maxed out 64GB variant with Cellular option.

First of all, treat this accordingly, until we hear more information. Second, Apple’s pricing policy seems to be different for Europe than the one applied for the States. Third, European countries have a sales tax of anywhere between 19% and 25% (19% in Germany where this leak is coming from).

What do these prices hint, if the leak turns out to be true? That the basic 8GB WiFi only model will be probably priced around $249 in the U.S. which, depending on the specs, might be a good competing price for the Nexus 7 and Amazon’s seven-inch offering.
