Last-Minute Design Changes Interrupt iPad Mini Production?
Things were really starting to look like they were coming together for the iPad mini. Following a string of numerous leaks purporting to show off the tablet’s hardware, we saw some fully-assembled mock-ups, and rumors have been suggesting that Apple’s just about to distribute invitations to the event it will use to announce the device. In fact, we were hoping we’d get news of those arriving tomorrow. Could Apple instead end up delaying things a bit? That’s a new possibility we have to consider, upon new rumors suggesting that Apple has halted iPad mini production for some late-stage design changes.
Supposedly, Apple wants to change the shape of the iPad mini’s casing, possibly going for a somewhat more rounded look. It’s not clear if this may be an entirely aesthetic decision, or if there may have been an engineering issue that is forcing the change.
At this point in time, we’re hesitant to believe Apple would make any serious changes, but considering how so much we know about the iPad mini has been mired in rumor and uncertainty, it’s difficult to dismiss the claims outright. For now, we’re just curious to see what effect this may have, assuming there’s any truth to it at all, on Apple’s rumored announcement plans.
