Are These Pictures of the iPad Mini 2’s Frame?

Rumors have been a little inconsistent when it comes to Apple’s plans for its next iPhone (or iPhones, for all we know), but things have seemed much simpler for the next iPad mini. We’ll probably see a new SoC employed, but the most notable change should be the move up to a denser Retina-quality display. While some earlier rumors suggested that the new tablet could be announced as soon as next month, more recent claims have placed its arrival further out, into fall. As we wait to learn more about this new model, a series of images have arrived, purporting to show the new frame for the iPad mini 2.

As shouldn’t be very surprising, considering the nature of changes we’ve been expecting, this looks substantially similar to the existing iPad mini. While it’s hard to make careful assessments given the low resolution and blurriness of some of these pics, it does seem possible that the new iPad mini will have a little more robust build, with somewhat thicker edges.

Compare the above images with one of a teardown of the original iPad mini below, to see for yourself.
