It’s amazing how, a little over three years ago, nobody cared about tablets. They had existed for almost 8 years, and still, they were either too pricey, or simply not powerful enough to justify their purchase. Fast-forward to today, and it’s amazing that all it would take was to bloat a smartphone to make people want them. Still, there’s no denying that the market exists, it’s huge, and Apple still dominates it. Tomorrow we expect more iPads to be announced, and unless Apple hasn’t caught up with the recent reviews of Google’s Nexus 7, there’s a lot of great competition to worry about.
Apple’s event happens Tuesday, October 22nd at 1:00 PM Eastern, 10:00 AM Pacific, and we’d love for you to join us in our live Editorial Roundtable, as we discuss everything that gets announced, aside from our opinions on everything as it happens.
Because of the cycles that the iPad has gone through, this should be the right time for a re-design, though if you know Apple, that’s not necessarily a good thing. Redesigns sometimes involve putting up with last-years specifications on a newer chassis, as we’ve seen with the iPhone line-up in the past. Still, with the amount of competition surrounding devices like the iPad mini, and with Windows 8.1 reaching customers today, it’s clear that Apple has a big agenda to fill for both of their iPads this year. Regardless of what happens, join us tomorrow and be part of the discussion. Our Top 5 predictions for the event should give you an idea of what we hope to see.
Make sure you don’t miss any details of everything that gets announced. Simply circle back to this post tomorrow, as we’ll update it with our live stream. Just keep in mind that this will be a closed Hangout to allow us to provide you with all the details of everything that’s happening. Please share your questions or impressions in the comments as we go along and we’ll do our best to go through them during the show.
