Not too long ago we were talking about rumors of a 12.9-inch iPad, something that (whether rightfully or not) managed to pick up the name “iPad Pro” along the way. But then a few weeks back we heard some slightly different details, like how this could be a 12.2-incher, instead. Today the changes keep coming, as not only do we get to take a peek at a possible leaked schematic for the tablet, but hear a new name and check out some fresh release rumors.

Instead of the iPad Pro, apparently we’re now calling this guy the iPad Air Plus – while still, none of this remains confirmed. The new intel comes from the January issue of Japan’s Mac Fan magazine, which is going to run the above schematic. Of note here are the pair of stereo speakers on both ends of the tablet, presumably to allow for unmuffled playback even when your hands may be holding the slate by one of its corners.

The tablet is tipped to measure 305.31 x 220.8 x 7mm, and there are claims that it could arrive running a next-gen A9 SoC. This report puts its release window as sometime in Q2 of next year, but can’t get any more specific than that.

In addition to the iPad Air Plus/Pro, we hear a little about a new iPad mini 4. This model would mirror the Air 2’s design language and employ an A8X SoC; no further word on this one about any release plans.
