Things haven’t been the same lately when it comes to the iOS hacking community. Years ago people turned those developers that were able to crack Apple’s code into famous movie stars, and lately all that has seemed to just fade away as iOS has evolved into solving the many complaints that gave people a reason to jailbreak. Still, the community exists, and even if Apple patched the exploit that allowed you to use Evasi0n on iOS 7.1, there’s already progress in fixing that.

Evasi0n is sadly still not ready to jailbreak iOS 7.1, but Winocm is apparently ready to work on Apple’s new operating system. The video at the bottom shows the whole process working of an untethered jailbreak just fine on iOS 7.1, which should make it available to you very soon. Now sadly there is a problem, and it’s the fact that Winocm is famous for focusing on old devices, and not new ones. The video doesn’t confirm anything, but we’re almost certain that this phone is an iPhone 4 running on Apple’s A4 chip. It’s hard to tell if this same exploit is available on the rest of Apple’s smartphones, but this could help other developers figure it out.

Whatever the case may be, we’ll keep you posted on the changes. Hopefully the solution is as elegant as Evasi0n was as well.
