Instagram starts learning to play nicely with multiple accounts
How many social media accounts do you juggle? Besides your own stuff, do you also manage a separate account for work? Maybe you post for your improv troupe or local sports team. But whatever the reason, there are plenty of us out there who wear more than one identity when accessing social sites. When we’re doing so on our phones, just how easy they’re going to make working with multiple accounts is going to vary widely between services. Skimp on such features, and you risk driving users to third-party apps. Luckily, Instagram has received the message that users want the option to log in as multiple users, and we’re starting to see that support arrive in the app’s latest Android beta.
It looks like Instagram’s activating things on the server side, as not everyone on the same version of the app’s seeing it right now, but if you’ve registered to participate in beta testing you should soon see the option to add additional accounts show up in app settings.
If you’re not part of that beta-testing effort just yet, you can sign up through the registration link below – and even if you don’t, it shouldn’t be too, too long before we see multiple account support leave beta and show up in the Instagram app proper.
At least, from what we’ve seen the feature appears complete enough, even with the ability to create new accounts from scratch, should you so choose. Give it a spin for yourself and get started working with multiple accounts today.
