What used to be one of Android’s most defining features (“You’re going to buy the iPhone?! Man, that doesn’t even have, like, widgets on the home screen.”) is now usually something we gloss over, though it’s difficult to deny the convenience they bring to the platform as a whole. Reminding us of that convenience today is Google, which has issued an update to one of its two emailing applications bringing two new Inbox Android widgets – one that will allow you to set reminders, and another that will let you quickly jump into composing an email message.

The two widgets are both 1×1-sized – meaning, on your home screen, they’ll be the same size as any app’s icon – and upon being pressed, both will call up a window where you can perform each widget’s respective action. One will take you into a screen where you can quickly add a new reminder (and it’ll give you a list of quick complete actions for quickly adding common items). The other will take you straight into an email compose window – handy if you use Inbox heavily for firing off quick emails. You can download the updated app from Google Play.
