Hulu Plus Nearly Ready for Windows Phone?

Apps: the Achilles’ heel of Windows Phone. For as attractive as some aspects of the platform are, there’s little denying that it’s got a serious handicap when it comes to the availability of apps. We’ve heard time and time again from developers that they’ve got nothing against the platform, but fear that there just isn’t a user base sizable enough to make software porting worth their efforts. Thankfully for you WP die-hards, there are still plenty of devs committed to bringing their apps to the platform, numbers be damned. One you’ll soon be able to add to that growing list could be Hulu, which looks like it’s getting ready to release its own Windows Phone app.

The news comes courtesy of a support email, where an inquiry into the status of a possible Windows Phone 8 version of Hulu Plus was met with the response that “we’ve been working on making it available for some time,” adding, “the app should be released in the near future.”

We know, support staff aren’t quite the fount of truth and accuracy that we’d like to believe they are, but if there’s a lick of legitimacy to this, it sounds like good news for Windows Phone users. Streaming video’s always been a weak spot for the platform, so a Hulu Plus app sounds like it could be a great addition.
