We heard a while back that Huawei was working on a new Windows Phone 8 model, which has since been rumored to be the mid-range Ascend W1. That’s about the sort of thing we’d expect from the manufacturer, but a new rumor suggests that it could have even more WP8 goodness in the works, and may be about to also reveal a higher-end model, aptly named the W2.

Details on the hardware are sparse, but supposedly this W2 model would be going up in the market against the likes of HTC’s Windows Phone 8X and the Nokia Lumia 920. That’s some pretty fierce competition, and we’re not sure that Huawei’s got it in it, but if the design is right, users might just give it a shot.

Huawei could make its announcement of both new Windows Phone 8 models as soon as next Tuesday, September 25. If it does so, we’ll be sure to bring you all the details on whatever the company ends up having ready to share.
