A potential Huawei P9 Lite may not be too “Lite”

The Huawei P8 Lite was a pretty mediocre machine that tailed a parent phone that was actually pretty decent. It’s not a surprise that we’re going to see the Chinese manufacturer take the same tack to its P9 launch on April 6, preparing both “Premium” and “Lite” variants of the device. It’s at least what we’re expecting according to Evan Blass of VentureBeat.

A source inside the company says that the phone goes by the name “Venus” and will keep a lower price tag while still making “strategic changes and omissions.” Not compromised from the main phone are the 5.2-inch full HD display and the 3GB of RAM. The leaked photo you see above is not mistaken in including a fingerprint sensor.

One of said omissions will come in terms the build, foregoing a fully metallic body, perhaps a hybrid aluminium-polycarbonate vessel like the OPPO F1. The P8 Lite was all polycarbonate. The Venus will only have one camera and run on a chipset inferior to the top-of-the-line Kirin 950 being supposedly used in the P9 — the P8 Lite ran on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615.

All of this as Huawei starts piecing things together for its April 6 event.
