Huawei P9 practically confirmed for April 6 debut in London at last

Who said the few months after a jam-packed event like MWC have to be barren of high-profile mobile hardware announcements? That doesn’t seem to be the case at all this year, with OPPO just about ready to unveil the R9 and R9 Plus, followed by the Huawei P9 on April 6, and HTC 10 roughly two weeks later.

Wait, so is it April 6 or 5 for Huawei’s next-gen flagship phone in the end? Apparently, renowned Twitter tipster and tech journo Evan Blass was right in the first place, having no more reason to doubt his perennially trustworthy sources as formal press invitations are being sent to various European publications.

April 6 is highlighted as the date we need to save, and the previously rumored Berlin venue’s been shifted to London. Huawei aims to “change the way you see the world” exactly four weeks from tomorrow, and an extremely capable dual-lens rear-facing camera could be one of the things used to radically alter your perspective.

A seemingly cryptic #OO hashtag may subtly hint at such an advanced photographic tool, with other key selling points identified of late in sharp screens, massive batteries, fingerprint recognition, and powerful processors.

Like last year’s P8, the Huawei P9 is expected to come in at least three main configurations, standard, lite and max, the latter of which might measure 6.2 inches in diagonal. SoC options could include Snapdragon 650, Kirin 950 and 955, while memory should cap off at 4GB. Excited about any of the gossiped P9 variants?
