Huawei crows about more achievements, including 10 million P8 Lite sales

There’s no question about it anymore, Huawei is the new Samsung. The world’s rapidly rising third largest smartphone manufacturer insists on trumpeting record-breaking sales numbers literally every week, which is something we were used to back in the day in relation to the now stagnating Galaxy.

Forget quarterly reports, as monthly box-office updates are apparently in, with Huawei claiming its January 2016 shipment figures increased by a monumental 93 percent year-on-year. Mind you, we’re talking the traditionally slowest month of any given year in terms of electronic device demand of all sorts, yet this financial juggernaut allegedly pulled off 12 million unit sales.

Clearly, that 120 mil goal for the whole of 2016 is a humble, unassuming one, which Huawei might crush once the P9 sees daylight, possibly followed by a Nexus 6P sequel, and one or two new additions to the Mate family as well.

Of course, low-cost, low to mid-end phones remain an integral part of the Chinese company’s growth strategy also, which makes perfect sense, given the P8 Lite was sold in over 10 million copies in only nine months on store shelves.

Along with the higher-end P8 and P8 Max, the 720p 5-incher totaled 16 mil shipments, more than half of which went to buyers outside Huawei’s homeland. That’s a first, apparently, and it proves once again the brand is on its sure way to truly global acclaim. Should we dare to say it? Fine – 150 million yearly sales are starting to seem like an attainable target.
