Huawei may retire Ascend brand for MWC flagship
Just a few years ago, hearing the Huawei brand was extremely uncommon in our side of the ocean. Still, after seeing how much brand presence the company has made at every single MWC since the year 2012, it’s clear that the company was on to something. The company has done an incredible job at building the same success it has in Asia in other regions, and today we hear more on its strategy.
For years we’ve seen Huawei use brands like Ascend Mate to designate its flagship lineup. This year we saw the company merge a couple of names here and there, and we thought that would be how the company will name the lineup going forward. As it turns out, new details claim that Huawei’s next flagship will even go as far as dropping both the Ascend and the Mate, and simply stick to letter-number combination.
We expect to see the launch of this device at MWC 2015, and if the numbers serve to designate the name, we guess the next device will be simply known as the Huawei P8 or Huawei P9, who knows. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more official details from Huawei.
