A shell and three renders later, we have a pretty good idea of Huwaei Mate 9 looks like. Too bad we probably won’t see it at IFA.

The renders are part of a late leak from the Baidu side of Chinese social media (though the images have been deleted at the source). It still has that Mate 8-ish look, though with that modified dual-camera module with a different orientation than the P9 and a first eye on the front side — though it’s nothing too fresh.

The Honor 8 shares in common the Huawei P9’s sensors, but it doesn’t have the Leica branding that the latter has. We’re not sure what will go on with the supposed Mate 9 and whether we’re going to see 12-megapixel sensors, 16-megapixel sensors or 20-megapixel sensors. Between spec runs from benchmarks and just plain hearsay, we’re not sure what to make of this material at this point.

And in the meantime, all we want to hear about right now is either a Mate S2 or a “Nexus” 7P.
