HTC’s had a rough history with tablets. After the failure that was the Flyer back in 2011, the company has kept quiet on the tablet front, but in the time that’s passed it’s also entirely changed its fortunes with the creation of the One M7 and One M8 smartphones. So, with the Nexus 9, HTC is back in the tablet game, and if Focus Taiwan is to be believed, the company is planning on launching a self-branded tablet (probably an HTC Sense tablet) in 2015.

Chief Financial Officer Chang Chia-lin allegedly confirmed that the tablet is incoming, and also that HTC is open to hearing out co-branding opportunities (think the HTC/Google collaboration on the Nexus 9).

Whatever does come to fruition, however, more than likely won’t be a cheap affair. Speaking supposedly to Focus Taiwan, HTC North Asia President Jack Tong noted that the ultra-cheap market is simply not profitable, and that 7-inch tablets are fading away in importance because of massive-sized smartphone screens these days.

Though it is advised to take this report with a proverbial grain of salt, it’s not entirely outlandish a thought that HTC would be planning a Sense tablet for 2015. What’s your take, folks? Let us know down in the comments.
