It’s no longer enough to demand phones with great battery life; in addition to handsets that last all day on a single charge, we want our phones to spring back to life in just a matter of minutes when we finally do plug them in for a charge. Motorola’s been using this type of ability as a selling point for some of its latest models, most notably with the just-launched Droid Turbo, which includes the company’s Turbo Charger right in the box. But it’s not just Motorola models that support such seedy charging, and a number of recent HTC handsets have been all ready to take advantage of Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 – if only they had the proper charger to make all this work. This week HTC delivers, listing its Rapid Charger 2.0 on its accessory page.

The adapter promises to charge compatible phones up to 40 percent faster than with their regular power supplies. Those models include the flagship One M8, the One E8, Verizon’s One Remix, and the new Desire Eye.

Right now, HTC is just displaying the Rapid Charger 2.0 on its site, and it doesn’t yet appear to be available for purchase. That day’s bound to come soon enough, though. There’s no sign yet of what the charger might cost when sales really do begin. We’re also curious to see if HTC follows in Motorola’s footsteps and starts bundling the Rapid Charger 2.0 right in the box with a compatible phone or two, but that answer will have to wait for another day.
