HTC Perfume flagship expected to roll out in Snapdragon 820 and MediaTek fragrances
Given the recent silence on the rumor front relating to the make-or-break HTC One M9 sequel, you could have easily presumed the Taiwanese OEM would sit out next month’s Mobile World Congress before tipsters came forward with such inside information yesterday.
The theory is the One M10, O2 or Perfume will break cover at a dedicated press event in March, with a sales start eyed for April. A trustworthy and HTC-knowledgeable Twitter user with the handle @LlabTooFer mostly corroborates the speculation, adding the Android hero shall run 6.0.1 Marshmallow and Sense 8.0_GP out the box.
GP likely stands for Google Play, as in a very close-to-stock software experience, though some degree of bloat must be in the cards if the proprietary Sense UI is bound to live.
On a juicier note, it appears at least two HTC Perfume configurations are incoming, one built especially for the US and EU, with a Snapdragon 820 processor under the hood, and the second headed “mainly for China and South-East Asia”, powered by a mystery MediaTek chip.
This could be the deca-core Helio X20 that MTK technically released, but no OEM jumped to adopt, or the oft-rumored Helio X30 which may retain the 10-core architecture of its predecessor, or advance to a whopping 12 cores, displayed in a quad-cluster arrangement.
Either way, it’s the Snapdragon 820 “fragrance” the larger part of the world is interested in, and for HTC’s sake, we hope the rest of the specifications will be at least on-par with the Samsung Galaxy S7.
