Forget A9, HTC One X9 could be in the works with much higher-end specs
Whether you stand by HTC’s controversial decision to take iPhone design imitation beyond a certain line with the upper mid-range One A9 or not, you’re probably all left craving for more. Preferably, at a lower price point.
Enter the HTC One X9, which may or may not be the same handheld as the so-called O2, but leaked promotional material anticipates its “pursuit of brilliance” either way. The moniker sounds strange, and the exterior feels like an M and A combination of sorts, yet it’s the rumored specifications that will make the world take note and hope our Chinese sources prove legitimate.
According to Weibo tipsters, the One X9 should sport a display of at least 5 inches with Quad HD (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) resolution in tow. Then you’d have a top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 or MediaTek Helio X20 processor under the hood, backed by 4 copious gigs of RAM.
A 23MP rear camera would up the photography ante of both the M9 and A9, with the same old, same old 4 Ultrapixel shooter around the front, and a massive 3,500 mAh battery is said to keep the lights on of the whole establishment.
Everything sounds a little too good to be true, also with up to 128GB internal storage on deck, and the front-firing Boomsound stereo speakers look to make a comeback as well. There’s no word on a release timeline, let alone targeted markets, but if the pictured poster is the real deal, we can only surmise the HTC One X9 will be headed to English-speaking Western territories.
On Chinese shores however, leaksters claim the flagship Android shall command a price equivalent to roughly $470, which is simply inconceivable. Too bad, we really wanted to believe this rumor.
