A leaked T-Mobile roadmap from a little earlier this month mentioned an unknown HTC handset, the Era 42. That codename seemed to hint at a new G-series phone, with earlier models also taking the Era name, but a new rumor now suggests that this Era 42 will instead be a newly-refreshed HTC One X with an upgraded processor.

Supposedly, the Era 42 will arrive at T-Mobile as the One X+, joining the One S already offered by the carrier. We’ve seen signs of this kind of One X upgrade before; a few weeks back we talked about a similar model that had appeared in some benchmark data, apparently running at 1.7GHz instead of the One X’s 1.5GHz.

That bump in clock speed can be attributed to a new Tegra 3+ SoC. NVIDIA’s talked about these chips before, which had been set to arrive mid-this-year as the next stepping stone in the development of the Tegra series, clearing the way for NVIDIA to finally start integrating LTE radios with the following-gen Wayne and Grey chips.

If the leaked roadmap is accurate, T-Mobile may be planning to launch the One X+ on September 26.
