There was little to no doubt that we’ll see a mini version of the HTC One (M8), just as we are sure that the Galaxy S5 Mini is well on its way. However, despite the obvious M8 mini name we expected, we’ve recently learned that HTC might go with something different: HTC One mini 2. The information landed from @evleaks, the same way as the render you see above.

We’re allegedly looking at the HTC One mini 2 in the leaked press shot above, and, straight from the beginning, three things will strike you as obvious: 1. it looks exactly like the bigger brother, the M8, 2. it comes in three color options, and 3. it will apparently lack the Duo Camera feature found on the flagship (meaning there’s no depth sensor for funky post-shooting focus adjustment and bokeh effect).

Other than that (and the positioning of the sensors to the left of the headset), we can’t see anything out of the ordinary: BoomSound is still in, and we’re hoping for a larger-than-four-megapixel UltraPixel camera, maybe even stabilized. Other specs reported earlier include a 4.5-inch screen with 720p resolution and a quad-core Snapdragon 400 CPU. We’ll of course tell you more as we find out.
