HTC One M9 fan concept has us drooling

With both Apple’s iPhone 6 launch and IFA 2014 behind us now, we find ourselves in the middle of somewhat of a new-smartphone lull. Sure, there are a few notable handsets waiting for us just over the horizon, devices like a new Nexus model (at least, we hope so), but the next few months may be a little more low-key than normal. That will all change in early 2015 as we gear-up for CES/MWC, not to mention things like a new Unpacked event from Samsung – in fact, at this point we may be closer to the Galaxy S6 launch than we are to the GS5 launch from earlier this year. This means that it’s only a matter of time before rumors start turning to this early 2015 hardware, but before we get too overwhelmed by leaks, insider sources, and all that good stuff, we’ve got a concept design to check out, with one HTC fan setting out to imagine how he might like the One M9 to arrive.

Keep in mind, this isn’t anything close to an official HTC design, and only represents one man’s thoughts about the phone. That said, it takes its cues from existing HTC design language, so it’s not crazy to think that the real M9 could end up doing a few things along these lines.

On the hardware side, we’re painted the picture of an M9 powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 810, featuring a quad HD display, 3GB of RAM, and a gigantic 3500mAh battery. Despite that massive size, the phone itself would only measure 7mm thick. Impossible? No, but a lot easier to accommodate when you’re not tasked with the pesky job of actually engineering this hardware.

Outside, we’re looking at a body crafted of solid aluminum, bonded to a sapphire glass display by means of a handsome stripe of titanium around the edge: premium materials abound.

Still, is it the perfect One M9? We’re not so sure – a return of the Duo Camera arrangement? But little details like that aside, this sure looks like one HTC Android we’d love to see become a reality.
